2001 V70 T5 Inside rear view mirror swap

Post by motor1947 »

My inside mirror is shot. I have found a used unit to replace it and I understand there is some data transfer required from my old unit to the replacement. Does anyone have any experience with the company Xemodex that does this data transfer on same day service? Also is there a secret to unplugging the harness from the mirror (hidden clips etc)?

You basically have to transfer the entire guts of the old into the new mirror
The electronics are tied to your VIN, the alarm and the starter.

UPDATE!!!!! Bought a used mirror with matching part # on ebay $50. Sent my mirror and used unit to Xemodex in Canada. They charged $199 plus shipping to transfer info from my bad unit to ebay unit. Reinstalled and car cranks and runs fine and mirror operates fine. Only downside is now my sunroof won't open and map lights don't work. Courtesy lights still work. Fuses are good and I double checked electrical connections in the upper console area. At a loss now and wonder if their might be another circuit tied in to sunroof. Fuses I checked were in the panel to left of steering column.

Last update. Solved sunroof and map light issue by taking ignition key and manually locking and unlocking the car (don't use remotes) from the drivers door. This reset the system and everything works fine. Success!!!
