Asking about programming of mirrors or recalibration.
In case it is just a bad aftermarket mirror, I have pulled 2 mirrors from an 04 XC70 in the junkyard today. It wasn't until I got them home and looked closer I realized they are different. Are these the correct mirrors, and is there any way to identify what version they are and if they are compatible to the 02 XC70? In theory, 01-03/04 mirrors are listed for those years. I have also seen that they may be 03-06 possibly?
Both have puddle lights (were they available on 02 cars? They also look like they may have the outside temperature sensors built in and those were used on the 03- cars where the MAP and intake temperature sensors were removed from the intercooler to throttle body pipe.
I cannot find any number listed from the labels on the mirrors.
Any help appreciated on if these will work. I don't have the 02 XC70 just now so can't compare. The car has no electronic mirror closing like our 06 has. That has a button on the lower part of the center console below the climate control. The 04 XC70 the mirrors were from did not have any buttons on the center console.
Thanks,
Neil.

Not a ton of help, but my dad's 1999 S80 (P2 obviously) had puddle lights, so I'm thinking very probable they were available on XC70s by 2002.

Interesting as it says it was fitted to 05/06 XC70's only. I know one of the lights has a molding mark for 2004, and the other I think is 2003.
That makes no sense at all! The date codes would point to then perhaps being original to the car.

Not sure if this helps Neil but these are exactly the same as my '03 mirrors with puddle lights. My car also has puddle lights and the green pigtail is the same. I think it will come down to if the pigtail is the same, they should be correct and compatible.

I won't be able to check this until I get the car again. Worst case, I'll stick them in the stash. Physically the LH mirror looks identical to the 06 car mirrors on ours. Don't know if it has the powered fold in that our son's car has. Anyone know what year those were first available? I'm guessing these are not as there was no buttons on the center lower dash area under the heating/cooling controls.
Like everything for older Volvos these days they are a stupid price. The various mirrors retail at $500 and up to over $700 CDN each and they do not even come with the glass!
At least I know someone who may be able to use them down the line...........
Strange thing is the passenger (RH) mirror is different in shape to the LHS one?
Thanks for the help guys!
Neil

My Volvo branded passenger side mirror has a mind of it's own. I cut the wire feeding the X-pos, forget what it was, maybe purple. Check the EWG. That stopped it from going haywire every startup.

Much of my time during the job is spent hauling things up and down the stairs to the basement or in and out of the storage shed, or running back downstairs when I realize I need something else,or taking a break from standing out in the sun,or using flashlights or work lamps when it gets dark.

I was wondering about a possible re-cal like you can do for the door windows if they lose their limits top and bottom.

I want to swap my '04 SUV-sized mirrors to the smaller stylish S60 mirrors. I just need to match the heated glass, electric operation, and puddle lights of mine. Not sure if my temp sensor is out there. You see ebay mirrors with housings, I can paint to match.
Does anyone elses XC70 mirrors rattle like crazy?

Not at all, easy enough to take them off and see why they're rattling, maybe its the window channel, sometimes the felt lined rubber guide comes out of the channel, I've seen lots of these like that in the wreckers.BlackBart wrote: ↑21 Oct 2024, 14:40 I want to swap my '04 SUV-sized mirrors to the smaller stylish S60 mirrors.
