2010-Volvo XC-90- ABS, Engine System Service, blind-spot lights on dashboard

Post by Jheart6lfush »

Hello all. Hoping the wonderful Volvo community can help a decent DIY user out here.

Have a 2010 Volvo XC-90 (3.2L) with 64K miles. Bought it a year ago and had absolutely no issues with it at all. No dashboard lights. Live in Illinois temp around 10-30F currently.

Brake pads are getting pretty low. Will do new pads and rotors here shortly.

Last night.....

1. "ABS" and "BRAKE" light came on dashboard. Truck brakes fine but haven't had a chance to see if ABS works.
2. Same time "Blind Spot syst service required" light came on.
3. Same time mileage counter stopped working (speedo works fine)
a. Trip odometer not working either. Shows " - - - -"
4. Same time power steering became sluggish/hard to turn. Still some assistance being provided but not all of it.

Trucks appears to have full power. Isn't limping on reduced power as I read sometimes is the case with braking/ABS issues.

Next morning (today) still all the same as 1-4 above with the added bonus "Engine System Service Required".

Please help! Seems like this may unfortunately be a more common problem.

Thank you so much!!

Welcome to the forum.

A car wash is a good idea. The emergency BRAKE may still be engaged - try releasing it.

Hi Mate, wondering if you fixed the problem?
May I know the root cause? I have the same problem.

Appreciate your help.

Same exact list?
I didn't see the original post, but if I had; I would have suggested re-booting. Disconnect battery for a few and reconnect. Always my go-to for disassociated mystery faults reported by the onboard system.
