Private Party Timing Belt Replacement - 2007 Volvo XC70

Post by cmayo1 »

Is there anyone on the forum who does timing belt replacements themselves? I don't have any records as to when mine was done last, and I'm not liking the price quotes I'm getting. I could do it myself, but it's getting closer to winter, and it'd be my first timing belt job, so I'd rather not screw it up, even though it looks fairly straightforward. I'm located in Southern NH, if anyone knows someone around New England that can do it. I can order the OEM kit from FCPEuro myself.

Thanks in advance!

It's a conundrum. Getting a quote today. I'm not planning on paying an arm and a leg for a 2-3 hour job.

It should be $400-500 in labor for that belt at an independent. It is an interference engine so if you muck it up, it’s $2000 to fix.

Belt, idler , and tensioner all get replaced on this job. It’s a 100k-150k interval depending on VIN code

So far, I've been quoted $1100-$1600 for pulleys, belt and pump. I'll just do it myself :)
