These always captured my imagination with their sleek lines and V8 engine. For a mid 80s vehicle they outshone almost anything out there purely on a bang for your buck basis. They could be modified with a larger 4.4L Leyland engine for even more ponies.

These were just plan ugly, and were the subject of such derision in their time, however they were a significant car because they won Wheels Car Of The Year and were a viable alternative to Ford Falcon, GM Holden Kingswood and Chrysler Valiant. A total flop marketing wise and heralded the demise of Leyland Australia.

Today good examples fetch big dollars.

I liked those too. Kind of long, but a smooth elegant shape, and that engine. I'm trying to remember if they sold them in the US. They were in the magazines.

I liked these Rover 3500 V8's too. We never saw them.

And the smaller Triumph Dolomite Sprint, which was aimed at countering the surge in sales of the BMW 2002. "First mass-produced multi-valve" 2-liter engine. Cylinder head designed by Coventry Climax.
