2004 Volvo XC70 2.5t, putting the timing belt on after replacing the head gasket.

I've got the camshaft locked in place on the driver side of the engine with the Amazon tool. I've also got the chock installed behind the starter that locks the crankshaft in the right place. I had to take the camshaft/vvt gears off while replacing the headgasket but I didn't touch the center torx bolt on the VVT units.
I don't really understand the factory manual linked above. I guess I could, stupidly, just tighten the gears up where the paint is torqued off when the car was put together. It doesn't seem like great practice but I guess it would work.
Does anybody have a favorite video that shows how to do this alignment?
