Vida - What am I missing?

Post by scot850 »

Other than my marbles that is!

So, Having replaced the O2 sensors, the engine check light was still on. I decided to dig the Vida laptop out and connect it up to see if it could give me any more info or details. Strange this, it did it's scans and only came back with multiple RF door mirror/module errors.

Engine check light was on, so I tried it with my old Innova tester and it is still highlighting the P0016 cam/crank position sensor voltage error, and the O2 sensor voltage issue? So why is it reading the errors and not Vida?

I reset them with the Innova and then took the car for a short run. That was more about confirming it is the front wheel bearing (RF) which I was hoping was just the old winter tires. It is exactly the same on the tires from out son's car that makes no noises from the tires.

So add those to the list. I might have to look at the RHF axle support bearing. As I found with the 00 R, even running the car on the hoist, that bearing showed no noise. It only did it when the front was loaded. Ah, the joy.............. :x

Well, no takers on this one?

Anyway, here is an update. Took the car for a shortish run yesterday, and the engine check light stayed off for now. No way do I think it was run long enough to necessarily run any self checks.

So, today, before checking it again, I decided to look at the RH door mirror. It was all that was showing multiple error codes, or repeats there of.

Swapped the mirror over. I think the mirror may be a later version with extra wires into the connector than the aftermarket one I removed. There were 3 extra wires on the used OE one. I surmised this may be a motorized flip in version, even though the car it came off did not have a button for that. Was it an option on an 04 XC70?

So, I also reasoned, even if it is fitted then then if it is not needed it will still be fine.

Fitted the used one, and immediately realized the aftermarket one looked like the smaller V/S70 which has a rounded outer end. The XC70 ones have a more square profile. Tested it an so far ok. Ran another Vida test and ran a DTC update from the test yesterday and it came back with no errors for now. I started the car and no engine check light for now. Mirror also is behaving itself for now. Also time will tell on that one in time.

Because from my own experience, the OBD codes are separate from VIDA codes.

For instance, on naturally aspirated Denso ECM equipped engines, when you get a P0420 code it's usually related to ECM-4201. But...I also at one point got a P1177 code, which..had no equivalent VIDA code.

P1177 = O2 Correction Behind Catalyst , B2 Limit Attained but has no equivalent to Volvo DTC.
