Hi! I have a XC70 D5 2007 P2 with a bad TF-80SC transmission. Its slipping, shifting really hard when it suddenly shifts, and has a bad grinding/buzzing noise coming from it. Worst in drive and reverse, but is still there in park and neutral. I've tried flushing the transmission fluid this weekend with no real improvement.
Considering a replacement with a used transmission, but its really hard to find a 2007 TF-80SC from a XC70. Would any TF-80SC fit from a V70, XC90 or newer XC70?
Is there a good guide anywhere for swapping the transmission? Preferably without dropping the whole engine/transmission assembly.

Just clarifying here. Your car is a P3, not a P2 chassis? For us, 2007 Model year (starting in Aug 2006 - end July 2007) was a P2 which did not have the TF-80SC trans. If that is the case you are in the wrong forum.
Having said that, you might want to try calling a dealer as I found when trying to find a used TF80 trans for a 2013 XC60 was painful. There is something like 8 options for P3 chassis, and I think there was a change around 2010 and 2012.
It is also hard for us here in North America as we do not have diesel Volvos so we have no parts listing here for them.
On the gasoline versions there are 3 trans listed for 2008/9/10 years over here for gasoline engines.

After reading these forums about the transmission issues i was sure my car had the AW55-50 transmission. But it is a P2 XC70 with TF80. After some searching it seems that European models in 2006, 2007 and maybe some 2005 where sold with the TF80 transmission.

TF80 with the same final drive ratio will be a drop in replacement, I think. It's possible to transfer final drive / differential from your transmission to the donor. There was a cut off year for switching from JWS3309-spec ATF to JWS3324, you want the 3309 one.
I removed AW55 alone a few times, with car jacked up high and put on lumber, with transverse engine support bar and cherry picker. Don't think TF80 process is much different.
I would replace the valve body in the donor before installing it. They wear out naturally, it's good to have a new one once in a while.
