What is this plastic bit from under my hood?

Post by rntaboy »

After doing an oil change and closing the hood, I found this mangled and worn piece of plastic sticking out of the left top corner (near the hinge) of the hood. I did a quick look under for where it might have come from, and didn't see anything obvious. Can anyone help identify this plastic bit?
I'd like to try to source a replacement if I can only figure out what it is or a part number.
Any help would be much appreciated.

There is a plastic trim at the loser corners of the windshield and fits there and along the top edge of the fender. Hard to find an image, but this is the best I found:

I don’t know if Amazon has it or not (I’m not a member) I found it in PartsGeek, it looks like mine 07 v70 but similar to your ,the aftermarket parts . It calls Drip Rail Molding.Hope this helps..

FCP euro has them.

The Volvo parts only a few years if in intense sun. Still I expect they are better than other sources.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I'd noticed that part you've identified was missing months ago, and it's partner from the driver's side was very much degraded. So I'd already replaced both with fresh ones. Guess I finally found the missing one. :D

Not if UV protectant like 303 Aerospace is applied a few times a year.
