Finally got around to replacing the broken washer pump. Spraying was functional, but noticed that it was spewing water out of the bumper area next to the reservoir. Saw that there was a tear in the rubber tube in a reachable location. Bought a washer line repair kit from Amazon for 6 bucks: https://a.co/d/iz0Hmpj
Cut the torn piece and put an I adapter to a new piece of rubber. While I was at it, I replaced the first T connector from the pump with an I connector, and removed the headlight washers out of the system. Those wipers stopped working anyway and now less wasted fluid!

cn90 wrote: ↑18 Feb 2023, 13:17 Owning both 2004 V70 2.5T (early 2004 model) and 2007 S60 2.5T created some confusion
for me lol.
Today, I have some free time, so I am putting together relevant info for everyone.
- FCPEuro.com website as well as dealer websites can be confusing and inaccurate!
They state chassis number etc. etc. It can get very confusing and even then, it is not accurate...
So, if you don't want surprises when ordering reservoir or washer pumps, then...
TLDR: the BEST thing you can do for your car is STOP, don't read further.
Go out to your car, and assuming it is stock, get a piece of cardboard, lie down and look
upward the area in front of RF tire, take photos. Then you will know what you need to buy
(i.e., which reservoir or which washer pump type).
- I was "lazy" (i.e. too busy) and did not check, ordered the "wrong" reservoir. Turned out it
was perfect bc I wanted to get rid of the HL jet system anyway. Please see my posts
listed previously in this thread.
- The engineering transition happens around 2004: different electrical connectors, from old-school
Denso (made in Japan) to new-school Transpar (made in China).
Now you can see Ford management geniuses at work lol!
Well I'm in the middle of verifying all this, as there are several pumps avail as cn90 has shown. Thank you again to cn90 for this research.
I found a weirdness - assuming my '04 XC70 is a later '04 and has the two-outlet pump (31349228), I checked my build sticker on the rear of the driver's B-pillar post (open your left rear door and look at the post).
My 2004 shows a build date of 05/03 ! Odd.
But per FCP Euro parts descriptions, the later two-outlet pump is for serial numbers 127,149 and up. Mine is 132,XXX, so that's the one apparently.
So then I'm ready to buy the "good" Blue Box one for $85, and it says Made in China! Argh! When I clicked on the Pro Parts Sweden (I usually don't), it says Made in Taiwan. So is that better?? Built someplace we like for a fraction of the price? Or is the China one built under Volvo supervision and is the quality factory part? I'm so confused..........
In the morning, I will lay underneath and look at the reservoir and tank and verify two-pump or one-pump.

Further unhelpfulness....
This says from 127,149 and up.....
On the same page it says this bit......
Where does chassis 359023 come in? The last six digits of the serial number? Like 127,149? That would make it a year or more after 2004, no?
And here, for "factory code #2," the "product/ID plate 5th position" would be "Z" Or are they talking about the metal VIN plate under the hood and windshield? It would still be Z.

I’ve got a used one if you want it, the dual outlet ones are all the same. Incidentally, that’s a blue Volvo sticker over a FoMoCo part number, you car read the first 4 numbers. Mines FoMoCo Pn:1S71 17K624 FD. It’s off a ‘05 XC70.

Pulled off the little corner bottom cover with the NACA duct in it....
My tank sits right in the corner of the bumper cover - I think the bumper has to come off the access the pump.
(Loose connector goes to my removed fog light, not the pump)
If I pry out the bumper cover edge, I can just make out a pump with the white and black outlets leading up. It's a tiny thing.
I only see the one pump, not the multiple ones in some applications.

I replaced with a PPS part and it works fine. Not a critical part, and relatively easy to replace. If it goes out I'll pay the extra but so far so good.
