Re: Bougicord spark plug leads 850

My 1998 V70 T5M has Volvo branded Bougicord wires which are labeled "403 Class C-1". They have a date code of 08 13, so early April 2008 (thanks erikv11, the numbers were hard to find).

I don't know if class C or F wires are correct for this car. Perhaps the F cap and coil were replaced with C compatible parts along with the C wires. I bought a new cap and rotor so will try to compare (in a few months). A careful review of the part numbers in VIDA could also help (once I fix my VIDA laptop).

These wires were installed by either a dealership or a knowledgeable garage so I trust the work. I've only driven the car about 100 cautious miles but this setup seemed to work fine.

FCP shows a picture of Volvo brand lead wire part 9445258 labeled as "403 Class C". Their fitment info says it fits 93-97 850 NA and turbo, and 98 S/V/C70. FCP shows pictures of Bougicord and Volvo wires, part 9137500 (neither currently available). Both pictures show wires labeled as "403 Class C-1". So are C or F really more common?

C is overwhelmingly more common in US market. You won't find a 20v fitted with F (cap or wires) in USA. OP's post relates to a different make/market.

Probably Misha's post is the bottom line for all but a few exceptions.

Thanks for clarifying that it's market specific (which the OP was also clear about). I'm new to plug wires having always driven a 2000, so I'm still learning.

hi all i used a set of lucas ht leads on my na 855 and have had no problem they fit just great and are very good quality 7mm f grade silicon oil and heat resistant and no sign of breakdown misfires or any corrosion on the metal parts in 3 yrs use in the uk,half the price of bougicord to boot.
for some things i see the need for oe dealer parts but ht leads is not one.besidesluca are oe on loads of cars for a reason.just my view, peace all

I don't think I have seen the 'lord of darkness' (Lucas) brand parts sold over here, we have over the years found most aftermarket brands are hit or miss in terms of working properly or lasting. I have a friend who has a set of NGK plug wires that so far over 3-4 years have been ok. But then I have read of others where they had issues. Only thing we have found is Bougicord cause few issues even when really old.

I got C-1 cables on my NA euro 855. I tried replacing with some NGK cables and it didn't work out at all. EFI automotive should be bougicord.
