2005 V50 2.4i very slow starter

2005 V50 2.4i very slow starter
I cannot get better that a very slow cranking speed, even with jumper cables. Since it does crank, I am not assuming a bad starter. Am I wrong, any suggestions?

Check voltage directly at the starter connections while cranking. This will tell if you have large voltage drop through power or ground cables to the starter. If large voltage drop, then test each cable for voltage drop under loaded conditions.

While you are checking, test resting battery voltage at the battery studs - not on the connecting cables. You should have about 12.4 volts. Much less and the battery has low charge.

I’ve replaced two 2.5T starters and on both starting speed was quite a bit faster with new units (One Napa, one Carquest). Pretty easy to change on the Volvo I5 too.
