Hello all,
I have a problem that I'm struggling to fix or even diagnose.
The problem started about 2 years ago when my engine just stopped with the message "DTSC service required". It was fully warmed up and I'd been driving for about 20 minutes. When I tried to restart it, it just cranked but would not start. On the second attempt it did run without a problem. It didn't do it again for some tine. Fast forward, it still does it randomly. 99% of the time it dies when slowing to a stop at lights or a junction and a couple of times at steady throttle on the flat with minimal load. It never dies at high speed or under acceleration. If left alone it will restart again after 15-30 minutes as if nothing is wrong. It doesn't go in to limp and there are never any DTCs ( I have VIDA).
The injectors were replaced 3/4 years ago. I have changed the fuel filter, egr valve and fuel pressure sensor. Since I gave it a new battery and reset the counter, I have not seen the DTSC message again. Logging live data whilst driving or cranking when it's failed, fuel pressure is good. About 350bar when cranking. The highest I've seen is about 1200bar when being drive. I ran throttle body adaptation on it and the performance is radically different. The car used to bog all the time and would stall often if trying to accelerate from slow in 2nd. It doesn't anymore and average MPG is going up.
Last week I took the throttle body off and cleaned it. It wasn't very dirty. However, oil is leaking through the smaller butterfly actuator into the wiring plug. It's died several times in the last week or so. If I wipe the oil away, it starts straight away. I have bought replacement oil seals to rebuild the throttle body.
None of my local mechanics or diesel specialists will touch it as it can't be made to fail and the lack of DTCs. On said he wouldn't touch it because I'd tried to diagnose it myself. Volvo just want a blank cheque to root about trying things.
Anyone got any other ideas? Any help or thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
