2008 C30 2.0 Power seat not working

2008 C30 2.0 Power seat not working

I was told by mechanic that my power seat control panel was shot so I bought a used one on ebay and it did not work. Weird part is that I bought part number 30797730 to replace 31252859. Nothing online says they are compatible but they look identical and have exact same connectors. When I hooked it up, it did not work. Is it seriously possible that the one I bought really just doesn't work with my car even though the functionality and connections are 100% identical? I did return the used one and ordered new on volvo site but not sure this will fix it.
