Valve spring washer (9207901 pre99, 31430247. post 99) - 6mm vs 7mm

Post by Sveedy »

Big oops !! While working on the head for the V70, one of the top valve washers dropped off of the table, never to be seen again.
I tore the shop apart, but no luck. Just one of those weird things that sometimes happens in shops. So now I'm stuck. I can't seem to find that one lousy washer online anywhere. So does anyone here either have one or know where I can get one ? I'd hate for this whole project to fail just because of something so small.

I have found # 31430247. But I'm not sure if its right. Different sites show different numbers and some show only the lower washer, not the upper retainer one. Seems like something as basic as a washer would be the same through out.

I have a cylinder head or two upstate that I could get one from if you get stuck.

There are probably only two parts used on the whole P80 product line here, 1992-2000, with a part break in early 1999 model year when valves went from 7mm to 6mm diameter.

You want this one from Skandix for a pre-1999 7mm stem engine, up to engine 181xxxx
Ill stick one on my order in case you cant find it.

Thanks guys ! Yes that is the washer. And my engine # is 147xxx, so I guess that is still 7mm.
I ordered a couple of them from Volvo Parts Counter, but they might be the 6mm, so yes Steve, I'll buy what ever you come up with.
Thanks for the life preserver.

I just received an email from Volvo Parts Counter that the washers that I ordered are indeed wrong for my engine. Apparently they only have them available from Volvo Classic Parts for $30+ !! That doesn't make much sense to me if they are the same 7mm that other 850's use.
So I'll take what ever you might have, new or used.
Saving my ass....again. :)
