has anyone swapped the turbo on 2.0T 5 sylinder to a bigger one?

Post by AMISpate05 »

So, I bought this 1998 V70 turbo but it makes barely any power... on the internet it says it has 163hp and mines is slow as a snail. part of the problem is the ETS sensor and dirty throttle housing and VVT solenoid or that is what the code reader did show. also around the general area of my turbo is leaking oil, so I was wondering If anyone has put bigger turbo in this type of engine i dont know witch ones will fit the manifold and witch are bad idea anyways I am looking somewere 230-250hp I have guy that can code the engine sorry for bad english and lack of mechanikal knolege If someone has eksperiense in this topic it would be helpful
im just curious

We don’t get the 2.0 liter engine here BUT 163HP is pretty good. New spark plugs, distributor cap, and distributor rotor before you make any major changes of course, Stage 0

I agree with Abscate on this one. Get the baseline sorted first. I'm guessing your car has the low pressure turbo (GLT spec?) 2.0 liter engine.

Are you sure your car has only 168 bhp? That is the output of the 20V non-turbo engine? The 2.0T should have 180 bhp according to Wikipedia:

It is not uncommon for there to be oil leaking around the turbo area of the engine. Check the short rubber link pipe to the intercooler pipe is tight and not leaking. They become soft with age and can tear so leaking oil.

the 2.0 t5s in the 850ies made around 200 hp. You'll have to find out which Turbo you have, I guess a 13G. If that's the case, you can put a larger 15G on it. You will need a custom tune, for sure.

Im on same side as you all fix the brick before you modify it i was just curious... and also it has 130ish hp if im correct and it spools whopping 0.6 bar? I need to fix the throttle and vvt solenoid problems first, also my blinkers handbrake and the better lights at night dont work so theres that im looking forward to purchase new plugs and what is the rotor.

I don't think any turbo 5 cylinder had as little hp as you mention. If you have had this tested on your car there is something seriously wrong.
