2006 V70 Can 3rd row seating be added?

Post by beefboy7302 »

looking at purchasing a 2006 V70 but family of 6 so need the extra seats in case. does anyone know if those can be added? i saw a video of a guy doing one in P80 model V70 but i wasn't sure if that model stopped 2005 and if that still applied to 2006 models.

P80's stopped in MY 2000. P2 models (like yours) started in 2001 in North America.

This may help:

Finding the parts may be the hardest part. I don't think I have seen a 3rd row seat in a P2 in the junkyards here, ever.

Good luck finding one to install. Other option is to swap to a gen 1 XC90 with the 7 seat option. Just don't buy a T6 model!!

It can be added. When I crashed my 2005 XC70, I bought a donor without a third row and transferred my third row to the donor. No programming is needed, no nothing, just mechanical wrenching.

However, these rear seats are only good for children around 4-5 years old, for short trips, in colder weather. There's no ventilation back there, like at all. My kids were literally frying and almost suffered a heat stroke once. Also if someone rear ends your car, you automatically have two kids less.

For our family of 5 wife has got a Toyota Sequoia instead of her Volvo XC60. Volvo has nothing to offer for large families, even XC90 is so cramped in the third row. In Sequoia I (5'9", 200 lbs) can sit all day long back there. You may even better get a minivan, they are very family oriented.

I installed my third row. Need the seats, brackets, seatbelts. The seatbelts were a pain because you can recoil them beyond their normal limit and it’s a nightmare to fix.

It’s for little people but a lot of fun for the little ones. And rear facing means you don’t have to hear them yapping.

Had one in an 03 V70 when the kids were smaller. I added the inside latch kit so they could get out without waiting for me to come open the tailgate. Seemed like a good thing.

They're both teenagers now, but they still tell me how much they miss riding in the way back.

OP, put a wanted ad in the Classified so we can keep an eye out for parts in junkyards. What colour would you want this in, beige or grey or?

That’s a funny car list, VolvoDJ

Slight thread hijack...

@abscate -- Believe it or not, it's gotten worse. She totaled the 2007 XC70 last week. :o Airbag deployed. Thankfully no major injuries.

But...ugh. Didn't need this complication (and expense) just now.

I love the mother of my children, but she is hell on vehicles.

Maybe try to put her not in Volvo?

She took out a Subaru and a Jetta before I met her, so it's not the make of vehicle. Honestly, I'd rather she drive something as safe and solid as a Volvo given her track record.

4 vehicles totaled.... wow... and I thought my daughter was a bad driver. Happy she isn't hurt but also will steer clear of any Volvos I see if I'm ever driving in the NW US...
