Who's your winner?
KC vs Buffalo
and
Philadelphia vs Washington
I'm going to say Buffalo. I like Allen. I'll choose Washington over Philadelphia. I like these types of underdog situations.
Big NFL football day today, guys!

Man 1 FUL 0 FT
Heartache for my hometown Bills but that game is always a classic. KC won fairly ( I guess officiating sucked) and the Super bowl should be decent this year. I think KC hoists the trophy, and I’ll back my bet with a third seat heater controller module 9666666

My takeaway from the games: NFL refs favor KC every time they play.

Soccer has always faced a huge problem in the US: advertisers don't love it because there is only one commercial break between start and end.
We are a TV ad/mad country.
I'm permanently 17.3% dumber because of all the television ads I've watched suffered through in my lifetime.
Remember the free PC circa 1999 they'd send you that had ads at the edges of the screen?

Are we talking about the game with the ball with two points? Yeah, I paid close attention once and timed the actual amount of football being played compared to standing around and talking - a football play is about 8-10 seconds. Makes me crazy.
I've seen futbol games on the teevee where there's an ad banner up in one corner that just stays there. Might be 10 minutes of Coke, then 10 or Ford, or whatever. I don't think it took anything away from watching the game, and it didn't cover up anything.
Agreed on American advertising. I mute the tv the second there's a break or time out - everybody looks at me like it's weird. You WANT to be advertised to?
My dad used to watch games with no sound. I thought it was weird, but I've tried it recently and it's kind of nice. It's fine except for maybe when they need to explain some really complicated call on the field. And baseball...you can see what's going on, you don't really need the play by play and color man yammering on about the 1979 World Series 3rd inning play. But there is something kind of relaxing about the sound of baseball - I used to have it on the radio in the garage as background. A nice pace.

I had season tickets for Kansas State University basketball for a couple years in the 1970's. I was a student and went with guys from my dorm. We sat within a few rows of the floor. It was great fun at the time. But TV and radio are not the same as cheering with your buddies at the game. These days I just glance at the headlines while flipping the pages to the funnies.

Nothing really compares to being right there in the arena, surrounded by the energy of the crowd. Watching on TV just doesn’t capture that same excitement or camaraderie.volvolugnut wrote: ↑03 Feb 2025, 16:24 I had season tickets for Kansas State University basketball for a couple years in the 1970's.
