99 S70 GLT Engine B5254T - main vacuum line

The main vacuum line on the 99GLT runs from the center of the intake manifold through what I believe to be a check valve to a "T" in the vacuum system. I have a concern and some questions...

concern: I could blow through either direction equally easy.

1) is this supposed to be a check valve and if so shouldnt I only be able to blow through in the direction of the arrow?
2) as installed the arrow was pointing to the manifold - is that the correct orientation?

The orientation I believe is correct because the smaller line connects to the intake manifold and the larger one to the T. just want to double check that particular piece

I have to be honest that I have never tried blowing through that valve. I'm assuming it is a valve and not a filter. The fact that it has an arrow on it would suggest it is designed to flow in one direction. Hopefully someone can confirm what the part is. Filter or valve.

I do believe it is the one. The part i am talking about is the one in the middle of the line that connects to the center of the T

You have it right.

On a turbo car, you have to provide vacuum purge from both the air snorkel , when boosting, and the intake manifold, when coasting. The check valve stops boost from leak8ng out back to the snorkel

But yes, it's a one way valve. Volvos with turbos have them for reasons noted above. Either replace that line with the exact Volvo part or take a stroll down to your nearest auto parts store and they'll have boxes of them, you can just cut the bad one out, put a new one in, in the correct orientation and you will have saved your self some cash AND fixed your car.
