Just changed all the timing belt and water pump components and the belt is scrubbing on the inside of the tensioner idler. Looking at the old gates tensioner idler it was doing the same but I never heard it.
What could be causing this and how can i fix it?

There are some experts here who can definitely help. If you could, please post a picture showing the timing belt area and the scrubbing area. What brand/parts did you use?

It's a little tricky and took me a couple of trials-and-errors before I figured it out. You have to click on the "Full Editor & Preview" button, and then on the "Attachments" tab on the following screen. Then you'll see and "Add Files" button. Click that and you can upload photos or other items.
