V90 2020 T8 - battery efficiency

Post by rcgoofy »

Hello guys,

I am currently looking for V90 with T8 engine. I am just concerned about battery efficiency in time. How is it in your case guys? Has the capacity/efficiency dropped? If so, how much? What was the real range on the electric engine when new and what was after a few years?
I found one car that looks interesting for me, it is from 2020, mileage 138000km (85000 miles), but am wondering how is the battery capacity and how will it look like in a few years.

How is it in your case? I would be grateful for any suggestions, whether it is a good choice and should work well for another 5 years, or it is rather a case where the battery would have to be replaced in a near future?

Thank you!

This is a good question and one of the reasons so far I have stayed away (apart from cost) of electric or Hybrid vehicles. The cost of replacement batteries is often higher than the value of the vehicle when the time comes.

I'm hoping that electric vehicles don't destroy our planet, that technology will eventually lengthen the battery lives. From recent information I have started to see is it is not the batteries that are the issue, but actually the electronics controlling the batteries and their charging that seems to be the biggest issue. Once those have been replaced the batteries have revived to almost full charge again. The fix is not cheap and tends to be in the 25% of the cost of a full battery pack replacement. Hopefully over time this fix becomes more of the normal and while it may not fix all the failed battery issues, it may fix many of them.

I wish you luck in your search and hopefully we can get feedback from some owners on this.

Neil.
