Great Info...I'm pinning this in the repair database!
MIJ 8)

Just a note...I checked our cars against the VIN Decoder and since this is a UK site, the transmission doesn't show up...for instance, the '04 V70 shows "0" for the tranny but that's not included...just says "check digits" for U.S. models. Other than that, it's spot on! Country code "2" is Gothemburg, Sweden but don't know about the others.

Hi
one question, my VIN engine number is 55, the number on the block said B5254S, and the document shows two different engine numbers: B5254FS & B5254S DENSO, so what does it mean? FS & DENSO?

Thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong ....it's the difference between a DENSO and Bosch
ECU setup/system.

Yes, it is the difference between ECU's....DENSO or MOTRONIC (Bosch)...the VIN won't tell you this, apparently. The only way to tell is to open your ECU box and check it (for that particular year). We know however that V70's from '98 and earlier are all Bosch while '99 and newer might have had DENSO as do some S80's an other models.
