On the transmission, and seated fully, at proper depth. Or you'll break the pump.

I that’s why they call the flywheel on an AT car…. The “ flex plate”

What is the torque converter to flex plate torque spec for the bolts for the Aw55? ViDA says 60nm but for the tf80sc.

I have also bought thread locker medium strength.

@vtl I do hope the TC fit in snuggly in the transmission. I would hate if it didn't go all the way in .

I have yet to receive my new subframe bolts. In with the old for now, so I can test the car. I am almost done.

Also, 105 nm + 120 degrees? I did the 105nm but out of the 120degrees I could only do 30 degrees of turns, I could muster no more strength underneath the car.

That sounds correct, you'll need a big jack handle for a snipe to get the 120 degrees but at least you'll be able to turn those bolts with the car on the ground. You will be glad you've got new bolts when adding that last torque increment!

I still do not have the new bolts, so for now, 105nm + 30 degrees for the old bolts + some blue thread locker. This is so that I can test the new AW55 transmission AND get an alignment done as I rebuilt my rack, as I could only approximate the zero position. Did you know ZF racks do not do full 3 revolutions, but only 2.75...divided by 2 is 1.32 revolutions back to center the rack, not a nice even number.

I was able to get the 120° with a 25” breaker bar. Eat a big breakfast.

It is alive. I drove it for a while. I def need an alignment due to the rebuilt rack.

The new tranny shifts much better, except 3-4th, but 2-3 is waaaay better. HOWEVER! i am noticing a turbo-like noise before it shifts. I drive a NA engine! No turbo! I can't figure what it is. It can't be the transmission oil pump, can it?.

Addendum: Yep, I mean I had this on my previous transmission but it was only ever perceptable from 1st to 2nd when going very slow like less than 10mph., now this one I can hear it even more clearly from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. Very slightly noticeable in Neutral and does not seem to be noticeable at higher gears.
The whine is stronger in reverse.

Perhaps vtl has some idea?

We've had wet and cold this week. Twice I've flipped on the defrost button to help clear the windshield, and there was a deep rumbling noise and maybe a little vibration. Odd and different from normal. I flipped it off quickly and the rumble dissipated slowly, I assume as the A/C compressor wound down. When it warms up, I can test to see if it's blowing any cold air and put a stick or stethoscope on the compressor.

Changed the control arms on Kära today. The original rubber bushes were starting to crack and split so best do them before it's an MOT fail

I used a ratchet strap round the ramp bed to pull the arm down to allow the balljoint to slip into place

Might as well change onto the summer tyres while the car's on the ramp, front done and will finish off the rear tomorrow before going out for a test drive
