Far shot but I'm going a bit insane here. Re-doing everything front suspension (struts, c arms, ball joints, axles, tie rods) on my '02 xc70 and I keep finding these ball bearings on the floor. I haven't heard any noises, CV boots are intact and I don't see anything loose.

Pulled the struts as someone suggested it might be top hat bearing and it seems to be slightly bent after installation but I'm still not too certain.

Did you find the ball bearings on both sides or just one? One of those top hat bearings plates looks like it may be a little off, but they could have come from the old ones, although I'd be surprised if they had hung around. If you found them on the garage floor they may have come from the old ones possibly?

Please return those quick struts. They do not last and ride quality is not there. Xc70 is notorious for broken spring seats and strut mount bearings as well as ball joints. You would be way better to assemble new strut from parts from FCP and have lifetime warranty( let's be honest in 40-50k you will be facing same issues). I had Sachs quick struts from fcp and they were junk(spring broke in 20k miles).

These are quick struts from Xi Jinping, specifically resold by Detroit Axle and verified with their support that they fit AWD P2 models. So that was a lie and now they're past return period lol.

I took off the quickstruts and a set of BC coilovers is in mail right now. I'm really leaning towards the top hat bearings since I've not touched anything else that should have bearings. Don't know if I should try taking them apart for science.

You've got a Craftsman box cutter so you know the value of quality, don't even bother installing those struts, mine had to come out in less than 6 months, additionally if you do install them they may be difficult to remove, it seems the fasteners are only designed for single use........the metallurgy is THAT bad!
