Yes, I understand this is a quite clever trick to use the cabin air, which should be either hotter than the outside air (in the winter) or cooler than outside air (in the summer, if you use A/C). However I'm no too sure putting ECM and TCM in a closed box was such a good idea, as these modules generate a fair bit of heat on their own: temperature swings must be enormous... I remember when cars had their ECUs just bolted in the engine bay: that might have been just as good, and greatly simpler solution.
Nevertheless, I'll be sure to try your A/C suggestion next time I have this kind of trouble! (although I expect/hope it never comes back).
