I’ll send it your way in a priority mail box! If I smash it up a little more I think it’ll fit!

It’s a shame the diff housing is broken though, I was hopeful a new bell housing would save this unit. I’m still interested in what actually failed. Looks like road debris possibly, but I’m not sure. He would remember hitting something. Or maybe the slave cylinder blew out a piece and that’s what smashed up everything. One spring on the clutch disk was looser than the other 3, but in tact. Weird…

Made the mistake of doing a junkyard run. Perfect weather, we had 4-6" of snow over the last couple of days and it was blowing a cold moisture laden wind. Ideal for doing junkyard work! :o

I went to see if there were any good heating system parts for early 850's. There is a recent 93 850 GLT in the yard. It almost broke my heart when I saw the car. It looked like it had been well looked after. It also had under 90k miles on it! It was a sedan in that lovely aquamarine bluey/green color. Even the seats were in great condition.

Anyway, pulled the ECC, fan motor (aftermarket but looks almost new), resistor pack, and the 2 cabin temp sensors (Again are OE but were really clean). I also pulled the cold air controller motor as I think I recall it may be different for early cars. Again, no need for any of these parts, but maybe one day someone will need them. Other than the fan and the temp sensor fans, there is no way for me to test the parts. :(

The only thing I wanted for myself was a 98-02 headlight wiring harness. I knew the 98 V70R had 2 headlights with broken lenses. I don't like pulling parts out good headlights, but with broken ones with bad lenses that is ok. Naturally with my luck, the re was only one headlight and it turned out the aftermarket unit must have been for LED lights as the connectors were wrong.

Only other thing I got was an ECU from the 98 V70R. Again, no need for it but maybe someone wants a spare or one to have tuned.

Added washer fluid to the 850, since the light was coming on, while taking off. I bought some of the Vaico Clean Screen concentrate from AutohausAZ last year, but didn't touch it until now. It's a summer only formula, but the danger of freezing is pretty well over now. It's a 1:10 ratio, so I added 14.2 ounces to a gallon of RO water.

Road legal again but only for only 4 days, then off the road again until 11th April when she goes for an MOT. I'm slowly moving my MOT on a little at a time so that I don't have to take Val for the annual test when there is salt on the roads. The last few years the salt has been horrendous at the beginning of April.

I hated having inspections in December because our state changes colour in January, so if you went over , the volour chamge wasa badge of shame. And , of course, getting an inspection in December was a problem

We only have inspections when a car reaches 10-12-15 years old (depending on insurance company) and only if you change insurer. Other inspections are if your car crosses in from another country or province. This is both a good thing, but in my opinion a bad one. This is why when trying to buy a used car here is even more of lottery as this lack of accountability means owners skip on maintenance and when a car is sold it is usually because there are multiple issues.
