For those who have a desire to install a full-fledged steering wheel, there is good news. USB HID controller F401 appeared, which understands the "LIN" bus of the Volvo steering buttons, P2 platforms 1999...2004. Configure the buttons as you require with any' devices. Intervention in the stock electrical circuit of the buttons is not required. I would like to note the high professionalism of the developer. Not a single significant complaint since the start of development in 2013. Real technical support. The controller is designed for operation in a car, has protection for power circuits and inputs, corresponding to the level of the car ECU. Flexible in the settings, suitable for many requests / solutions and cars, including modern Volvo. Great thing, recommend.

Installed in my car. Good working for two months already, in conjunction with the SC930 radio (SC900, 901). Modify and install the "clockspring" of the P2 platform. Refinement comes down to changing the fastening of the "clockspring" to the steering column. Changes in some electrical connections. No serious intervention in the design of the "clock spring" and its flexible cables is required. Installation intermediate relay, horn', and minor work with a soldering iron. Install any steering wheel you like 1999 ... 2004. everything will work, including the SRS system.

I have got the F401 set up and configured correctly, I'm currently finishing up modifying the clock spring.

I've got the same one as pictured, the only bit I can't any information on is how to swap the airbag plug over to the new one?

Interchangeability in characteristics is unknown!

One thing I am having trouble with, can I ask how you got the horn to work? I'm using the wheel from a 2001 S80. Everything else is good, but the horn is making me go insane!

Be sure to use an additional relay! If this is not done, the flexible cable of the clockspring will burn out.
