Hood wont open form the driver side

If you replace the rubber stops on the x70's with rubber stops from an 850, problem is generaly solved. The 850's are slightly thicker (taller) and give just enough extra pressure to pop the hood easily. They have been working great for teh past year on our '98 S70T5M

Be careful and don't break the release cable! I did that and it is very hard to get the hood open again on the AWD.

Would you please explain how to do that? I'm really having times opening my hood

Please don't do what I did! Or at least try everything else first. I broke off the cable inside the hood compartment trying to get the drivers side catch to release. I was stuck with only the passenger side released. I tried for several days to stick my hand up from below the engine to pull the release and couldn't reach it. I even removed the air pump and some hoses. Nothing worked. I got mad and used a hack saw to cut the u-shaped steel rod that goes into the catch, not realizing I would have to get it welded back. That worked but was brute force and awkwardness. If it happened again, I would try a mirror on a stick together with some kind of loop to pull the catch. I still haven't got the cables back right, but to prevent getting stuck again I pulled extra cables through the release arms and hung them down so I can reach them from below the radiator area. LOL

Had the same problem except on the passenger side. How I got it to open is kind of opposite of what others did.Instead of pulling the hood, I pushed the hood closed again and had my son pull and hold the release inside the car. Before he did that, I sat on the corner of the hood of the side that didn't release and my weight took the pressure off the latch mechanism and it released and opened. I then sprayed white lithium grease on any thing that moved in the mechanism.
