You lock the cams in the rear of the motor with a ….drum roll…..cam lock tool. Was super careful with the VVT rotation triple checked it etc., but I will check it again when I take it apart this weekend.
Did not lock the crank but had the harmonic balancer off, very sure it stayed on the mark.
Back of the cams did not break. Yet.
