Greetings all,
I hope this finds everyone in good health!
I was in the process of replacing the interior door panel on the driver's door, and figured I would try to problem solve the non-working issue with the outside driver's door mirror - it would work 1 time out of 10 when trying to adjust the mirror up or down or sideways. I examined the harness from the switch to the plug (that was fine), then looked at the wiring from the mirror to the harness inside the door. There I found one of the wires was broken from corrosion where the wire (solid blue) goes into the plug.
My question is: how do I take apart the mirror casing, if this is possible, to remove the wiring going in to the mirror? Or does the actual mirror have to be nudged out? And if so, is the the wiring accessible once the mirror is off? I am hoping all I need to do is replace the wiring!
Many thanks for your insight/experience/knowledge of these things!!

I am sorry I can't fully recall how to access the wires. The mirror is held in by some flimsy plastic tabs and using a plat blade screwdriver you can move the mirror to give access to the back of the mirror to remove it. You may have to remove the whole mirror from the car to access the wires fully to check it out. Removing the driver's door panel will give you access to the connector to the door motor. You an then check if you are getting 12V to it and the wires are not broken.
NOTE: When moving the mirror glass, be careful removing the connector to the glass for the heated element as it will likely be fragile assuming it is still working.
It is also worth checking the switch in the master switch is operating correctly and is not corroded. You will have to remove it from the door panel. Careful opening it as there are small springs in there.
As you are getting power to your other door functions (I assume) I don't expect any broken wiring to the door. I would suggest the issue is related to the master switch controls the wiring from there to the mirror motor, and the motor itself.
Neil.

I’ve probably got two or three spare mirrors in 019 black, which goes with anything, KM….

Worst case, taking the door inner panel off and disconnecting the connector on the wire that runs up to the mirror near the front of it. Connect a loaned mirror to that and it will hopefully help to identify where the issue lies.
Good Luck!
