Hey everyone!
I'm looking to buy a car for myself that will serve me at least 4-5 years. And one of my friends is selling his Volvo S60 2010 D3 2.0d, but it has pretty high km on it, around 350k km. What should I expect from this type of car? How long will engine last?
I'm pretty sure he did good job at taking care of this car - keeping in garage, changing oils, just now he changed belt before selling it and did some work as well, looks like there is no rust on it. And he is selling because he needed bigger car and he got one!

Factors to consider here are:
The price you will have to pay.
How many miles do you expect to drive in 4-5 years.
Do you have alternate vehicle if this one needs repair?
Can you do repairs yourself? Repairs will be needed, even if minor. If you have to pay someone else, the cost will likely exceed your benefit.
You may want an experienced Volvo mechanic to evaluate the car for condition before the purchase.

In the US, to maximize benefit in terms of dollars, my advice is buying a Volvo with ~100K miles (160,000 km) and drive until 200K miles.
After 200K miles, a lot of stuff WILL happen, and they are expensive (parts/labor your time) to fix.

Need car to mostly buy product for baking and some travel, but not far (100-200 km from our town). So for next 60-70k km! If needed we have sometimes passat b6 that is still working, but not our cars of course. And in town we have Volvo repair center. Also have a guy who can repair cars, but not sure does he knows volvo's.volvolugnut wrote: ↑19 Apr 2025, 09:05 Factors to consider here are:

It's a 15 year old car now, expect anything that can break, to break. It may of course prove me wrong, but...you never know. In my country cars like these are pushing almost half a million kilometers, which of course if maintained well will exceed it, buuut...
Well that's the point. I know a guy and his family and they have a lot a space for their cars and they love to take care about them. Only reason he sells this car is, because he needs a bigger one. If not fishing hobby he would drive this one for long time as he said.

It’s probably a good candidate for you, GuDo. Those diesels run forever , and the brakes and suspension stuff is all fixable.
