Posted similar topic as I cannot figure out what is causing rhis noise when turning left at slow speeds. Single clunk. Finally had local shop diagnose ad a cv joint but I had just replaced it twice. I went ahead and replaced a third time with used OEM with the vibration damper on the shaft. Car felt better when driving but one day later was back to the clunk again. Now there is grease all over inside wheel well and I am needing to replace the cv axle with yet another.
My question for the forum and I don't know if this is possible but.. could it be that when I turn sharp left the inner cv axle is actually popping out of the transmission slightly and popping back in? If so, how do I fix that...
I already replaced every other moving part on left side of car..
LCA
Sway bar link
Wheel hub
Complete strut assembly
Cv axle
All 4 motor mounts are new..
All subframe bolts are tight.
Also, could it be that I replaced the wrong struts seeing that there are 4 different levels?
Car has the 18" wheels so not sure if that means anything either..
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Something does not make sense here. If you replaced cv axle with oem there should not be problems. Grease at wheel well? Look at cs axle boot and make sure it is intact and not ripped/damaged. If there is damage-either someone installed it incorrectly or there is
Some part that cuts into the boot and damages it. Oem axle are not cheap and probably cost around 600-800 dead usa president's. So I would rather pay expert 200 for 1 hour diagnostic fee rather than pay another 700 and instalation fee. You can make a video of current set up and post it to the yootube and copy link to this thread. People will be able to better advice you.

Cv axle was replaced with used OEM. Turns out the oem one is leaking. So I ordered a replacement. I just can't tell what part is making the clunk sound when turning left. If not the driveshaft.

Also. Getting more under the car, from where the sound seems to be coming from sounds like right in the area of the subframe bushing but the bushing does not appear to be defective and there is no play in it.

Subframe bushings were my thought, not sure how hard they are to replace on a P1 chassis.

Thank you for a great quality video. I am shocked that new oem unit(if ofcourse bought from dealer and not amazon/ebay counteract) failed you so fast. From picture it looks like significant amount of more liquid type grease all around. If you would not show dry transmission seal I would even question if it was coming from there or somewhere from top. I think subframe bushing would likely give you symptoms all the times and you would have feeling like your alignment constantly changes. Another possibility- you mentioned that you replaced strut assembly. IMHO all those units, at least sold in USA, turned out to be junk(even branded Sachs bought from fcp, ask me how I know) of the strut assembly is chineesium you might as well have problem with bearing/plate on top of the strut. Or maybe strut is not tight enough.Pretribrapper wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025, 17:40

I would suggest to try to raise front of the car with both front wheels off the ground(please safety-locked rear wheels, jack stands, etc) and with engine off try to ask assistant to rotate the steering wheel. Hopefully it will show itself. My main suspects-incorrectly installed spring seat, not tight strut assembly, worn/defective bearing plate in top.
Good luck and thank you for taking us along.

.
Possible wheel bearing or strut bearing? Haven't looked at the 08 C30 2.0 M66 in awhile but did replace the struts twice with spring compressors. Spray if reachable or separate the strut bearing and greased just in case it makes noise. Careful as they will go everywhere if not careful so separate in a box.
