At around 7pm last night, the Denver Nuggets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder game was about to air, and I was going to watch it, but my son came up to me and said they want to go to a park in the city to meet other friends.
I said sure and caught much of the game on the radio. I dropped them off at the park around sundown and went to Nordstrom Rack to get some athletic shoes and flipflops. An hour later I picked them up, then they wanted to go to Dave's Hot Chicken on Broadway. https://restaurants.daveshotchicken.com ... -broadway/
It's a great place, lots of city energy and tasty food. We all stuffed our faces with fried food, and I tried to not listen to the boys (four total) at the table while they talked about whatever it is they said. They ate and laughed and had a great time. I sat at the head of a long table and they sat as opposite to me as possible. I get it, parents are to be ignored when you're 15
For some reason I suggested Voodoo Doughnuts https://www.voodoodoughnut.com/order-online/ across the street after we were finished. (Why?) They said yes so we went there and stuffed our faces with yet more friend food.
I woke up at 5am with a terrible stomach ache and had to use the bathroom. I paid the price. I don't care it was very fun and I'm happy to do things like that for my son. He's a great kid and deserves it.
This morning I made them pancakes, sausages, bacon, and strawberries. They ate like horses, all the calories from last night forgotten! Gotta feed those young men. At my son's doctor checkup last August, the doctor said as a matter of course, my son and every young man his age needs calories of any type, any type at all. Sugar I'm not crazy about, but I realize it's part of today's diet so I don't fight it too much. It is what it is.
