Use high quality fuel hose rated for fuel injection. Check pressure rating on the side should be at least 5-6bar. Avoid using worm gear style clamps and rather use specific for fuel system. You can always buy proparts unit from fcp or amd from ipd and if failed remove the assembly(you are a pro at this point) and switch old pump for Walbro or bosch unit.
This way it will stay inside of sender unit no matter the road conditions.
Also hope your rear shocks are not Nivomats(which are great and easy to replace, but price..however they are awesome and last decently well. Conversion kits are available as well, but i would prefer Nivos)

The AWD drive fuel pump design relies on a pressure fit between the pump and receiving nozzle on the pump housing. I didn’t feel good about it, but my new pump held and now has 25k on it. I did add a zip tie on the mount to help keep it together.

Thanks Abscate,

I ended up placing two o-rings on the outlet and a zip tie around the hooks on the fuel pump motor, and have driven it about 100miles since. Glad to hear you also used a zip tie.

It turned out there wasn't enough room in the assembly housing to get a hose between the pump outlet and the housing inlet, so used a zip as Abscate describes below.

Re: rear shocks. They are nivomats, which have become increasingly difficult to source, not to mention expensive as you stated. I plan on converting the mounts on a set of Bilstein B4's.

I believe Monroe makes an aftermarket set which work here. Still not cheap but not in Volvo land either
