Hello,
I have this code 0089.
I did buy a fuel pressure regulator and looked for it on the fuel rail
There is no FPR on the rail on my car.
2006 Volvo s80 (same engine 2.5 as the s60)
I'm being told it is a regulator or some component in the back near the gas tank on top of the gas tank.
Anyone one else have this issue and find a solution ?
My tags expired May 31st in less than a week. So I would like to pass emissions n in Virginia.
Thanks!
P0089. Help! Virginia license plates expiring. Help!

Your model year has fuel pump control module (PEM) and no mechanical regulator. What you can try replacing is fuel pressure sensor. Otherwise read the Volvo codes, with DiCE/VIDA. This car tells clearly what it dislikes in most of cases.

Ok the dreaded PEM.
I know there is a cheap one, and a super expensive one. I guess it goes by vin? Or if I find out where the PEM is I can get a part number off the unit, no?
The fuel pressure sensor looks new (driver side of fuel rail, grey in color, correct?) but I can always replace and re-test.
I work in an auto shop, Porsche, but I don't think the guys have a DICE/VIDA code system. I can ask the techs and see
Thanks for the ideas to point me in the proper direction, anything else?

Should I shotgun the PEM? The fuel pressure sensor was replaced OEM before I bought the car. (but maybe it's bad outta the box)
I can do that, buy a PEM off eBay and toss it in there, I am good and buying Volvo stuff! Hahahaha
Where is the thing located. (I will search YouTube vids)
Any one help me with a part number?

Did some research and I got a pem coming from eBay for very inexpensive!. Now I just have to find out where the thing goes and replace it.
Been watching YouTube videos.
It looks like it's tucked up between the bottom of the trunk and the top of the tank gas tank. Also they say it could be in the passenger rear wheel well underneath a plastic protective cover. Or inside the trunk on the passenger side.
I will keep everyone updated! Thank u

I pulled a spare PEM from a '06 S80 in a junkyard to keep in my XC70. On both cars I'd seen it was stuck to the passenger side of the trunk storage area by the spare.

That's great news! Hopefully it'll be easy access, I will check the trunk area on my lunch break. Thank you!
