Uro oil trap box for 97 850

Post by snugani »

Hey everyone. I'm going to be doing the pcv on my brothers car soon. just wondering if you guys would trust the uro separator box over the Volvo OE part. The Volvo one is backordered but I can wait if its much better to get the Volvo part

First think is DO NOT use Uro hoses!!

There are only 2 parts I would ever consider buying from URO and this may be the 3rd. The 2nd option is to clean out the original part with brake cleaner or gasoline.
It is hard to know how bad it is until it is removed if that will be successful.

It is not a hard job, but not one you want a do over on as it takes a far amount of time to do.

You could try putting a request for a used one in the sale/wants section so you could try pre-cleaning one before starting on the job.

Have you tried non-Volvo dealers parts places like FCP Euro? They list both the Volvo part and one from Viaco.

Rock Auto also include one from Gates as well as the Viaco version. This is a Canadian link so prices in CDN$:

I agree with scot850. URO box will hopefully work for you, but never ever use hoses from them or from IPD(mine disintegrated after 1 year and I am still mad at them).

Putting URO anything on a car is a recipe for disappointment. If this is not a time sensitive issue - which it does not seem to be - the job is a fair amount of work; it would be prudent in the long run to wait for the right stuff.

UROsupport, you made a name for yourself with amount of "good comments" on this site. Yes, your prices are great, but quality leaves more to be desired. I doubt that anyone who had to redo volvo pcv system job due to premature component failure will be using anything but oem quality parts. If you want to change our opinion about you I would suggest dramatically improve quality and start advertising on this website. You can offer some special discounts to to the members and maybe after some time more people would be using your products and rave about how great you became..until that magical moment I would stick with oem rubber components

Once your reputation is sullied, it takes a huge lift to get it back.

Who is going to gamble parts bucks on a job with 5 hours of labor to tear down the intake manifold and the struggle to get all those hoses into the snorkel with no leaks?
