Long story, but I bought a set of Nugeon reman coated calipers that come with caliper brackets (semi-loaded). I got a 'deal' from Rock Auto on clearance calipers and bought a set for myself and my young friends 02 XC70. In both cases they are listed as having 286mm rotors.
The calipers turned up and only one was actually a Nugeon, the other 3 were relabeled Cardone crap with Nugeon labels on them stuck over the Cardone ones.
I then got a deal on Nugeon ones from a Canadian supplier who could not be less helpful on their website if they tried, similarly their on line help. I planned to buy one front (opposite side to the one I had) and they gave me a part number I needed and ordered it. Turns out the numpty got the sides wrong so I ended up with 2 x left handed calipers. I have just received the correct one for the other side and the plan was to send the Cardone crap back as cores and only use the Nugeon ones if required and keep them on the shelf. I was organizing that today when I realized the caliper brackets have different part numbers!!??
I have since gone down a rabbit hole trying to figure out what it should be as Volvo only lists one bracket and that is for a 17" wheel. Our car has 16" wheels, but how does that relate to brake rotor size. They also list on the 02 V70 XC parts listing a 15" bracket and a 17" one but no 16". The bracket part numbers are of no use as they are reman'd parts from Volvo and they have no cross reference to the original new items. I don't have access to the car until the weekend as I'll have to pull a wheel to find what is actually fitted currently, all I know for sure is the calipers are the same (just as in P80's) it is the brackets that change.
Does anyone have easy access to a P2 XC70 03-07 with 286mm rotors and have their old caliper brackets? The brackets for LH and RH front are the same and the originals have 2 different part numbers stamped on them? Why? one set ends with the last digits -22/-23 and the other one ends in -24/-25. Talk about frustrating as I now can't use the Cardone calipers as cores if the new caliper brackets are the different ones!
I will find out on the weekend but this is driving me nuts!
Oh, and my Vida parts listing has 2 different part numbers altogether for 15 " and 16" and no cross references
Neil.
