XC70 P2 handbrake leather replacement

I have XC70 2004 AWD 2.5T. I couldn't find any instructions of how to replace the old leather of the handbrake leather so I took some photos. There are two frames that hold the leather in place. You need to separate those. Mine were clued / plastic welded so I had to use a small flat screw driver to break the connections.
I figured there were 5 to 6 connections I had to break loose. Not too difficult, I used the small flat screw driver and gently pryed / hit gently with a hammer. The last corner is the most difficult, see the pic. Otherwise just removed the staples and the old leather came off. The new wasn't exactly cut but I did my best to re-attach it with double-sided tape. I used hot glue gun to place the new learher in and frame in place. Looks pretty fine and I'm okay with it.

The last corner is the most difficult one to brake but I managed to to pry it loose like in the pic. Take your time and be patient! It'll come loose. The pic is the 3rd last.

Did this on a tattered S60, fiddley install but well worth it! Good result on your car.

As a bonus, you can source a real leather hand brake handle from an S60 and ditch the plastic one that comes on a XC70. It will then match the leather that is on the shift knob.

My new aftermarket pleather one from years ago I got on eBay. Color match was far from perfect but a huge improvement from the tattered old one.
