I have a printed sheet for resetting the Service reminder on a P80 (99-) and P2. There are 2 versions for the P2 depending on the age. 01-02 and 03-
I tried to do this on an 02 and all that happened was we zeroed the trip meter which is a pain.
2 questions:
1) Can this be reset with Vida?
2) Is there a set of clear instructions for those who do not have Vida for the 01-02 cars that someone has used and works?
Thanks,
Neil.

This usually works for my 2001 V70s:
2001 Volvo S80 / V70 / S60 Models
• The service reminder indicator lamp illuminates for 120 seconds when the ignition is first switched on.
• Insert key and turn Ignition Switch to position I
• Press and hold in the reset button for the trip odometer
• Turn the Ignition switch to position II (within 2 seconds)
• The service reminder indicator starts flashing when the reset button for the trip odometer has been pressed for 10 seconds
• Release the reset button for the trip odometer within 5 seconds. The instrument gives an audible signal when resetting has succeeded.
• If the trip meter reset button is not released within 5 seconds the indicator is not reset, but the indicator will stop flashing.
There are instructions inside VIDA for when that doesn't work. I happened to be looking in VIDA for something else and found the extended procedure for SRI reset when the normal way above isn't working. You need VIDA and DICE to run this fix:
"381: Resetting the SRL (Service Reminder Lamp) to zero
If the service lamp cannot be reset with VIDA or by a manual reset, try one of the following methods.
Programming the driver information module (DIM)
Reprogram the parameter "distance conditions for service" to a new value.
Reprogram the parameter "engine time conditions for service" to a new value.
Ignition off and remove the key.
Lock the vehicle and wait 2 minutes.
Ignition on.
Click the VCT2000 symbol to reset the SRL lamp.
Note! Restore the service parameters to their original values once the reset is complete. "
[I deleted the other two repair options for reloading the DIM software and ECM software.]
That process of changing from 7,500 miles and 1 year for the service interval to 5,000 miles and 6 month fixed it so I could reset the service reminder. After the service reminder was turned off, I resent the duration back to 7,500 and 1 year. The subsequent oil changes have reset without any problem.

Just to echo David E's great response: On my '06 and '07 cars, yes. Almost certainly on an '02 as well.

Turn ignition to slot I.
Press and hold odometer stick.
Turn ignition to slot II.
Wait until the yellowtriangle appears, and release the stick after it flashes three times.
(it will actually flash four or five times, but you have to release it after three).
Then it will beep and let you know it's done.
