New Alternator Woes 8.5mm out of alignment with all other pulleys

Volvo Repair Database New Alternator Woes 8.5mm out of alignment with all other pulleys

Well this is a head scratcher, new aftermarket alternator (the box was quite old) is sitting recessed 8.5mm from all the other pulleys. The brackets all seem correct from the diagrams i have found. Anyone run into this before? I found one comment from 2015 mentioning shimming the alternators and alluding to some ozark lee wisdom on aftermarket alternators, but could not find the original.
