96 850 Turbo ghost misfire

Post by Thatbluegsx90 »

I have a 96 850 Turbo, I had planned doing the PCV and the day before I noticed a misfire while in reverse/drive and not moving, while driving it seems normal, no codes are showing as well....I had issues with 2 injectors when I first bought the vehicle so I immediately went to that and replaced them all with rebuilt Bosch ones, no change, 43psi fuel, 155Psi compression across all cylinders, about 6 weeks ago I replaced Cap/rotor with Bosch units as well as Bougicord Spark plug wires and autolite copper core spark plugs, I have tried swapping them back to the OEM Volvo ones with no change either. I'm not usually one to throw parts at a vehicle but with a newborn I don't have much time to diagnose., I'm leaning towards a vacuum leak somewhere (I did the brake cleaner fairly quickly and nothing) or the other thing I noticed as well was the Contact Breaker on the Ignition Coil bracket had gotten hot at one point because the plastic is bubbled.. looking for some possible direction from someone more familiar with these cars

Hm, it looks kike you have all the basics covered. That is weitd, indeed. I had a couple misfires when I got my R, but the tuneup solved everything. The only thing I noticed back then was that in high humidity conditions I'd see musfires above 4000 rpm and I found water condensation inside the distributor.
Have you drained your AT fluid recetly? I think there was an issue wirh the converter not fully disengaging and this caused rouge Idee occasionally. My mind is a bit foggy, it's been 10 years since I got it.
Btw, if the problem is in idee only, you might wanna clean your idee air control valve (IAC).
