10 years of SPA cars now... do you like them?

SPA Volvos: XC90 2015+ , S90, V90, V90 XC.

Personally I'm wary of owning one, but I like them. My wallet says no, my eyes say yes. I'm voting Ambivalent.

Like you Matthew I’m torn. I think the styling is excellent but worry about durability and longevity. The P80/P2 cars are a tall bar.

Just not sure a 2.0 can make it to 200k if you maintained it well. I’d love a newer S60 but read about brake and vibration issues. Just scared there could be some high $$ repairs out of warranty.

I am similarly unconvinced of the 4 cylinder motor, but then I had 120/140/240/760/940 which lasted a long time. I was talking with the service manager at one of the local dealers. He says that so far they are not seeing many issues unlike the last 5 cylinder engines (2015/6) that have piston ring issues and oil burning.

He also told me the block was developed from a diesel engine so is pretty tough. I am seeing more of these cars, especially gen 2 XC90's with higher mileages coming up for sale locally.

My new neighbor and I were talking just yesterday. He has an XC90 SPA, I don't know the year or when he bought it. I try not to overwhelm people when I meet them about Volvo stuff, so I didn't ask ten million questions, only how he likes it.

He said it's very nice, and maintenance isn't cheap.

Someone in the neighborhood has a new V90 wagon. It feels big and low and sleek and stylish. Deep dark brown. It’s cool. No idea on the mechanical side.
