To put it simply jbray, they will remove your intake manifold to access a plastic box with 4 openings, and clean or change it. If this is completely out of budget, you could try the following. Introduce 1 ounce of Seafoam into one of the two hoses going to the canister. Run the car to temperature or 5 minutes. Do this 4 times before changing oil. If fixed by then, use a high miler oil thereafter. PS, have a general mechanic help you.

Since he's asking about an S60, it will be a little different (less hoses) but generally the procedure is the same.

I went even further with my imaginary repair. Into the upper PCV hose use a syringe to inject the ounce of Seafoam. Just leave the needle during each step of the above treatment. Because of the sound the car makes when blocked, it will also tell you when it's unblocked.

I sure appreciate all of the input and information that each of you has taken the time to provide. I have a baby girl due any day now, so I can't dig into the car just yet, however, once she get here I believe that I will tackle this.

Do you believe that this is causing any harm to my car, or just my pride?

Yes, that's it...all auto parts stores (that I know of) carry it.
