Post by abscate »

Tosh the 1998 GLT has a seepy radiator, can someone point to a good thread on how those clips work for both the transmission and the. Turbo lines?

Does the metal slip off , releasing the oring hard lines ( firm tug to pull out ?)

You open the metal clip. If you look at your picture, you can see there is a slot in the bottom. It is a spring clip. I use a pair of snap ring pliers that open outwards for them. A large flat blade screw-driver can sometimes do it to. When you widen/open it up enough, you can slide the metal cage clip rearwards to remove it.

NOTE: The clip is orientated, but can fit either way. If you fit it the wrong way around, the pipe can slide rearwards enough to allow oil to leak out!!

These clips are meant to be a one use item, and even when using for the first time they sometimes do not close back up fully. I recommend using a zip-tie around them for security.

.
1) The oil cooler line delete means no more oil flow through the radiator?
2) Car doesn't need it for faster oil warm up in winter and cooler oil for extreme summers?
3) Both faster warm up and cooling for the transmission fluid on the other end of the radiator?
.
Blessings,

BKM

I see it. Those distort when you open them so you need to restore the shape and safety with a zip tie.

My guess is if you dig these off with screwdriver you distort them. If you oil them up then open them with needle nose or circlip pliers they stay functional. Either way, a zip tie to keep them in place makes sense
