Rolled Karla back to Long Island for a family member in need.

Karla is a 98k 1999 awd auction find that foggy dropped a caliper and ATF into to get it running. I drove it back from a conference ftom DC to NYC at 65 cents per mile.

She was tripping a stick at solenoid code, but sitting for a few months with good ATF seems to have fixed that.

That diesel Bus was jealous of her turbo, she recorded 30 mpg on the trip.

Big box from a guy on Swedespeed showed up!

Unfortunately, it wasn’t filled with any sensible parts like a timing belt or pcv stuffs

I drove my 1987 Volvo 244 today. It started right up after sitting a few weeks. The fuel gauge partly worked, which is better than the last drive. It was used to haul another 5 gallons of waste oil for recycling.

Well, the other day I decided to pull the battery charger off the 850. I noticed the red light was still glowing, and not green. I tried starting the car, and nothing. Apparently unlocking the car with the remote drained everything. I pulled the battery and found the sides a bit swollen. Voltage was low, 12.I-don't-remember-but-not-enough. I'm disappointed. I put that battery in, in 2021. It's only four years old, and I normally get 7-10 years from a battery here in Michigan. We don't have the heat to take them out in only 3 years, like what happens in hot climates.

Saturday, I'm planning on buying a new one. I'm hoping to install an H6 instead of an H5. I'll do some measuring. I hope the retainer still locks down. The H6 is higher capacity and cheaper, than the H5.

Could you have possibly overcharged it? I’m getting great life out of Napa batteries, Evita is now 7 years old

I'm running a NAPA battery as well. If I recall correctly, NAPA rates their cold cranking amps differently (0*) from the others (32*), so you have to keep that in mind when comparing brands.

H6 fits perfectly, that's what I have in mine. Unfortunately battery quality has fallen over the years, so the super long life batteries aren't as common. Sometimes you'll get 7-10 years, sometimes 2-3. All depends on the batch I guess!
