Looking into permanent removal of the rear seats, both upper and lower parts. I drive mostly alone and partly in the mountains and have a long commute, always carrying load and have a full size spare in the back.
In short trying to loose some weight from the car. Found a how to video for the removal process. It shows you have to disconnect the SRS connectors from the upper portion. I assume for the seat belt tensioners.
My question is, is there way to prevent the SRS light on the dash coming on?

You will have to reconnect the tensioners to the wiring to keep SRS off. Also all that has to be done with the battery disconnected

You could also fabricate a wooden shelf / platform that's level with the rear load deck. Unless the rear floor space is handy for you.

I have removed my 2001 V70 rear seats for repairs. As I remember, they are very light. Not much weight to be saved, but if you want more room, even folded they take up considerable storage space.
With no passengers besides my wife, my seats is always folded down. The same way I used my 1975 and 1983 245s.
Also, be careful not to start the car with the SRS connectors disconnected. It will set a code that takes a special reader to reset. I know from personal experience.
