RedBrickcollector, on your Vin# plate by the battery is all the suspension data including the ant-swaybar fitted to your car (assuming it is original). Volvo stopped selling replacement bushes as they never worked. The original ones were vulcanized/bonded to the bar to stop it moving to the left and right.

Unfortunately none of the tools I could find could say which specific part, most don't even have a match for my VIN. I wonder if it's a "rest of world" market issue. I've heard there are painted marks? Where on the bar would it be as I haven't been able to find them. Currently I'm assuming it's 21.5 as it's a late run T-5

To stop it moving left and right, I've seen people have success with lateral locks. For a fraction of the price and shipping time I'm going to try generic machinery split collar locks, I'll report how it goes. Once know my exact size I'm likely going to go for the polyurethane bushing kits that have grease zerks

Took it for a drive to town and all was fine. Till the thermostat stuck. Three stops for water later and I was back home again. Temporary crappy thermostat installed till good one arrives later this week.

What brand is the good one? I currently have a Motorad in my 850, which has been fine. I did buy an Aisin for it later, but it's still in the box. I was a little disappointed when I found it to be a reboxed Mahle. I figured if the pump was Aisin, a thermostat made by the same company would be a decent idea

It's a Vernet. I seem to remember reading that they are a good choice for these cars.
I've never had a problem with the Motorad in any other car. And I don't know why the Mahle/Aisin wouldn't be fine as well.

You mean those gaps and grooves where all the water goes? Only special order new tires have those.

I realize I’m very car-nerdy, but I love new tires. I love shopping for tires, reading about tires, comparing tires, and putting them on. (Paying for them - not so much)

Do you want the $500 tire with maybe 10,000 mi of tread life, worthless in anything but warm and dry, or the $80 Chinese tire that says it will go 80,000 mi, where in NONE of those miles it will have any grip?

I am reminded of a story I heard years ago from a guy who had a welding shop. A salesman sold him some grinding wheels on the pitch that they would out last all other brands.
Well that was true, but they did little metal removal that you really want from a grinding wheel.

Fenders are back on the car. Put some wax based rust proofing on the rear before I put them back. I have wet sanded and polished the fenders to reduce some of the orange peel. I effed up majorly when polishing on the lower edge of the repair and the clear coat let go.

I managed to save it by repainting that area with my Iwata air brush and the fade out spray I bought really works well when you need to blend over spray. I can see it's not perfect because I was loosing patience and sanity at the time. But I think most people will not notice.





I think the color matches pretty well. Once I get the rest of the car washed and polished I think it'll all blend together well.

Time will tell if they are Atlas Force or Atlas Farce tires. Hope they LingerLong on the car in wet and dry.
