1500 pounds is fine for an unbraked trailer.

I would leave factor parking brake in as it’s good to have a way to brake a loose trailer to stop it doing the merry free trailer ride!

Update... See pics.

I have all the basics done for teardown. Plus I removed exhaust shield, a few exhaust nuts, the front and rear engine mount nuts, and trans linkage on top of trans.

Next step is to record the partial engine teardown + engine removal on Saturday. I found that one of the exhaust manifold nuts is blocked by the emissions warmup/evap thingy pipe right behind the cam cover. You will get to see how I go about getting that done. A grinder might be the solution. 🤷‍♂️

Donrt destroy those SAS parts - they arent available anymore.

you can undo the union on the rear of the engine easily enough, and save the spaceship, the solenoid, and motor for the next guy

what is the front of the trailer going to be made from? obvious answer the hatch from yet another volvo facing forward

came to me after your idea reminded me of a project whichways truck that lived for 20 odd years here in plymouth mass. The owner grafted the front of a second truck backwards onto where the bed would go. He even tinted the back headlights red to become brakelights

Update time! Certainly not close to the meat of the trailer process but must start somewhere. Eh?

Another idea...
After welding on the new front wall, I could design the structure inside to install a plexi window.

BTW I already bought a nice set of 4 speakers for the trailer. 1 set of speakers to go. Kind of a horse before the cart thingamajig. I won't reveal anything about the speakers until they are installed after front-wall fab.

I'd avoid plexiglass. A friend used some on a homemade camper and was not very happy with the durability of it.

Maybe look around a junkyard that has big trucks or bulldozers and backhoes etc for a rear or side window of flat glass and get the gasket and surrounding sheet metal. depending on the hieght you could even get a door and make the front open somehow

I plan to record more progress on Saturday. If all goes well, it will be up on YT by the end of Monday.
I've been looking at some things such as sheet metal and tongue tubing 2"x3". I am almost certain that when I cut away the front half of the frame I will find at least two hollow spaces in the bottom of the frame.
I know that when I cut the front half off, the metal wall will have to be installed within 24hrs to prevent weather and cats inside. That will be the most stressful and exhilirating part of the project.
