Engine judder no power in Drive 2000 S80 2.9L

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Engine judder no power in Drive 2000 S80 2.9L

Post by pranayama »

I have the 2.9L engine, lately the engine judders or shakes quite a bit. When I switch to Drive there is barely any power but seems reasonable in Reverse.

I thought it could be the ABS module and had it fixed and now the many brake failure stop asap message and ABS light have gone after little driving.

The worst of all is I am not able to read any codes on the torque lite app which I could earlier before the ABS fix or similar.

The car seemed to drain battery. Nice if anyone can help let me know the voltage drop in mV across fuse# 32 CEM, glove box lamp, courtesy lights of 10 amps, with the alarm system engaged by closing the door knob with a screw driver after locking it. Mine measures about 1.32 mV causing about 175 mA of draw. I read 50 - 70 amp is normal in most cars.

I put a glove on the oil cap and observed the balloon quite early with light smoke meaning I may have to look into the PCV system like the canister and the hoses there for blocks and brittleness. This might be the reason for the slight oil leak near the seals at the back. I have topped oil a couple of times earlier as it was loosing oil and this could be the reason.

I also think this could be due to O2 sensors or the camshaft solenoid valve which I will try to look shortly. I was not able to locate the camshaft solenoid valve if one is there.
