Hi everyone,
Just purchased a nice used 2007 XC70 but it's missing the rear quarter window trim on the drivers side. I have found what I believe is the correct part number (9425901 -which is confusing from the part diagram) but how is it attached? Is it held in place using an adhesive (something like VHB tape) or something else?
Rather than ordering the new trim piece I have found an entire used window assembly for significantly less but I question if the trim piece can be removed without damaging it.
Any help is greatly appreciated- thanks!

Edit: I was talking baout the small rear window on the S60
I would bring it to a window shop and let them do it. It' is incredibly difficult to DIY. . There is a screw at the bottom but even without it my feeling is the entire rubber seal it's one piece that is hard pressed in place

Here's a photo. As you can see it's just the trim/molding piece that is missing. Previous owner had a shop replace the window but elected not to replace the trim due to expense at the time.

Oh oh, that piece. I was considering that a body panel. It looks like you're just missing the painted metal part and the surrounding gasket sheet thing is intact, which is good. I agree with oragex that the rubber part would be impossible to DIY but it looks like you don't need to do anything to that except clean the grime off first.
As for your actual question, unfortunately my answer is "I'm not totally sure". The forward edge (the part touching the door) of that panel has a C-shaped lip such that it wraps around under the seal part, but I can't see what's going on with the trailing edge without removing stuff. Those three slots under the window with the four holes in them, are those empty screw holes?
If you have a screwdriver and socket wrench handy the fastest way to get an answer might be to take the interior body panels off and see what's underneath from the inside. You can compare it against the intact passenger side.

Thanks! Yep- just the painted metal part. It does have an inward lip all the way around but only the forward edge (C-shaped lip) wraps around the rubber gasket. There aren't any holes in the rubber gasket material so I don't see how there can be any fasteners holding it down- that's what leads me to believe it's attached just by the forward C-shaped lip and adhesive. The photos I've seen of the backside of a complete window assembly also do not show any fasteners.
I was just wondering if there was anyone here who has replaced this piece but I may just buy the whole assembly second hand and see if I can salvage the trim molding.

Does anyone have any guidance or insight on how to remove a rear quarter size window? I've found a replacement but not sure on the removal of the busted one on my 2004 XC70. Thanks in advance.
